Michael Huskilson

CEO

Michael is SPRK's founder and leader. With years of experience in the marine industry and a passion for renewability, his concept for SPRK surfaced when he noticed a gap in the boating industry for a sustainable end of life solution. He recognized the potential for a recyclable aluminum hull and set out to create a company that would make electric boating truly sustainable. As CEO of SPRK, Michael continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in the electric boating industry. Michael has an MBA from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s and BSc. ChE from the University of New Brunswick. 

Kady Leard

General Manager

Kady has a knack for building and scaling clean technology companies from the ground up. She is a champion of sustainability and is passionate about making boating more eco-friendly through the use of electric power and aluminum. Kady leads business development and operational activities at SPRK where she applies her strengths in problem-solving and communications to execute our mission. Her enthusiasm towards clean technology coupled with her business acumen, make her an asset to the team. Prior to joining SPRK, she worked for an electric bike and battery startup where she led marketing and business development activities. Kady graduated from Mount Saint Vincent University with a B. Public Relations. 

Liam Craig

Technical Lead

Liam is a highly skilled Electrical Engineer with several years of experience in the marine and energy storage industry. Throughout his career, he has developed a strong technical background and a deep understanding of energy storage system designs. Liam is known for his attention to detail, innovative thinking, and ability to solve complex technical problems. At SPRK, he leads propulsion system technology, from concept design to final integration, ensuring that each product meets the highest standards of quality and efficiency. Prior to SPRK Liam worked for Jaza Energy; where he developed consumer energy storage products, thousands of which are deployed in Africa right now. Liam graduated from Dalhousie University with a BSc. Electrical Engineering. 

Simon Rees

Naval Architect

Simon is SPRK's talented Naval Architect with over 9 years of experience in the design and manufacturing of yachts and commercial boats. His love for the marine industry began at a young age, growing up around boats in Newfoundland where he later turned his passion into a career upon graduating as a Naval Architect from the Marine Institute of Memorial University. After spending a few years as a Naval Architect with Gunboat Catamarans in the United States, Simon made his way back to Canada and made Nova Scotia home where he continues to foster his passion for the ocean beyond his career through a variety of water sports and hobbies. Simon plays a crucial role at SPRK from designing fast-plane hulls compatible with electric propulsion systems to the procurement of sustainable materials.
